WESTERN LIGURIAN RIVIERA: CYCLING THROUGH HISTORIC VILLAGES, NATURE, TRADITIONS, ART AND LOCAL FLAVOURS

A week-long cycling adventure through the Riviera dei Fiori, where the sea meets medieval villages, vineyards, and olive groves. Pedal through some of the most captivating landscapes of Western Liguria and the nearby French Riviera, discovering the authentic soul of this unique border region.

Starting from Bordighera, each day reveals a different side of the territory: from the scenic Riviera dei Fiori Cycle Path to the vineyards of Rossese wine country, from the charming villages of Dolceacqua, Seborga, and Vallebona to the elegant atmosphere of Menton, Nice, and Monaco.

This cycling holiday is suitable for both e-bikes and traditional bicycles and does not require advanced technical skills. The itinerary combines panoramic rides, guided visits, and tastings of local specialties, offering the perfect balance between outdoor activity, cultural discovery, and the pleasures of regional cuisine.

• PROGRAM

  DAY 1 – WELCOME TO LIGURIA (Bordighera)

  Individual arrival in Bordighera during the early afternoon and check-in at the selected accommodation.

  DAY 2 – SANREMO AND THE FLOWER RIVIERA CYCLE PATH

  (Sanremo, Bussana Vecchia, Arma di Taggia, Ospedaletti) Approx. 35 km | Elevation gain: 500 m

  A varied route combining the elegant resort town of Sanremo, the fascinating artists' village of Bussana Vecchia, and the spectacular Riviera dei Fiori Cycle Path running alongside the sea.

  DAY 3 – DOLCEACQUA AND ROSSESE WINE COUNTRY

  (Alta Via dei Monti Liguri, Camporosso) Approx. 40 km | Elevation gain: 500 m

  A panoramic itinerary combining cycle paths and some of the most scenic roads in Western Liguria. Enjoy breathtaking views stretching to the Alps, ride through Rossese vineyards, and discover the enchanting medieval village of Dolceacqua.

  DAY 4 – PRINCESSES AND ANCIENT VILLAGES

  (Sasso, Seborga, Vallebona) Approx. 40 km | Elevation gain: 550 m

  Leave the cycle paths behind and discover the famous Principality of Seborga and the charming village of Vallebona. Nestled in a sunny valley, these historic villages will surprise you with their peaceful atmosphere and remarkable architecture.

  DAY 5 – BEYOND THE BORDER

  (Ventimiglia, Hanbury Gardens, Menton) Approx. 35 km | Elevation gain: 400 m

  Starting along the seafront, the route reaches the ancient Roman settlement of Albintimilium before continuing along the scenic Ligurian coastline to Mortola. The journey then crosses into France and reaches the elegant town of Menton.

  DAY 6 – ACROSS THE ENTIRE PROVINCE FROM EAST TO WEST

  (Cervo, Imperia and the Seaside Villages) Approx. 60 km | Elevation gain: 100 m

  Train transfer from Bordighera to Andora. From the station, ride westward along the beautiful new coastal cycle path. Discover the charming village of Cervo before reaching Imperia, the capital of Ligurian olive oil. Continuing along the coastline, return to Bordighera while enjoying stunning sea views.

  Visit and tasting at the Fratelli Carli Olive Oil Museum (OPTIONAL)

  DAY 7 – THE FRENCH RIVIERA

  (Nice, Èze, Monaco) Approx. 30 km | Elevation gain: 400 m

  Ride from Bordighera to Ventimiglia railway station and take the train to Nice. A first tour along the famous Promenade des Anglais is the perfect introduction before a coffee break.

  From the Old Port, a spectacular panoramic road leads to the hilltop village of Èze for a visit and some free time. From here, one of the most scenic coastal roads on the Mediterranean continues towards the extraordinary Principality of Monaco.

  Return by train from Monaco to Ventimiglia.

  DAY 8 – ARRIVEDERCI (Bordighera)

  Breakfast and individual departure.

  For groups of at least 8 participants, we recommend including the optional activities and the services of a tour leader.

  LOGISTICS: The tour starts and ends in Bordighera, making travel arrangements easy with a single arrival and departure point. Extra nights before and after the tour can be arranged upon request.

  The nearest airports are: Nice International Airport (NCE) and Genoa Airport (GOA). Private airport transfers are available upon request.

  ACCOMMODATION: Accommodation is provided in double rooms in carefully selected hotels suitable for the proposed itinerary.

  LUGGAGE TRANSFER: Luggage transport is not necessary for this tour.

  RECOMMENDATIONS: If you are travelling with your own bicycle, we strongly recommend having it professionally checked before departure. Cycling helmet, basic repair kit, and appropriate cycling clothing are always recommended.
