TREKKING - Authentic Liguria between the sea, villages and the Alps

A walking journey through the most authentic side of Liguria, along panoramic trails overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, through ancient stone villages, terraced olive groves, and mountains that descend dramatically towards the coast. This trekking adventure in Western Liguria combines nature, culture, and local gastronomy, alternating scenic coastal walks with routes through the inland valleys of the Riviera dei Fiori.

The tour is designed for small groups and travelers seeking a slow and authentic experience, featuring charming accommodations, traditional Ligurian cuisine, and professional guiding services.

From the Mediterranean villas and gardens of Bordighera to the medieval villages of the Nervia Valley, and on to the alpine landscapes of the Ligurian Alps, this itinerary crosses remarkably diverse environments within just a few kilometers. Each day combines scenic hiking, local food experiences, encounters with the region’s traditions, and time to explore the historic villages of Western Liguria.

• PROGRAM

  DAY 1 – ARRIVAL IN BORDIGHERA

  Individual arrival in Bordighera, an elegant Mediterranean seaside town and a historic destination for British travelers. Check-in at a carefully selected hotel or guesthouse located in the historic center or near the sea. Meet your guide for a welcome briefing and introduction to the trekking tour. Evening walk through Bordighera Alta, the historic old town, and along the seafront promenade. Welcome dinner featuring traditional Ligurian cuisine. Overnight: Bordighera

  DAY 2 – COASTAL TREK FROM BORDIGHERA TO SEBORGA

  The first hiking day combines sea and mountain landscapes along ancient mule tracks and panoramic trails. Starting from Bordighera, the route climbs through olive groves and Mediterranean vegetation towards Seborga, a charming medieval village famous for its unique history and stunning views over the French Riviera. Along the way, the trail crosses cultivated terraces, rural chapels, and spectacular viewpoints overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.

  DAY 3 – DOLCEACQUA AND THE NERVIA VALLEY

  A short transfer leads to Dolceacqua, one of the most iconic villages in Western Liguria. The hike passes through vineyards, medieval bridges, and ancient rural paths connecting the villages of Dolceacqua, Isolabona, and Apricale. In the afternoon, enjoy a wine tasting of the renowned Rossese di Dolceacqua at a local winery.

  DAY 4 – PIGNA AND THE ANCIENT SALT ROUTES

  Today's excursion explores the mountainous section of the Nervia Valley. Starting from the historic spa village of Pigna, the route follows ancient trade paths once used to connect Liguria with Piedmont. The scenery changes dramatically throughout the day, passing through chestnut forests, natural canyons, and traditional stone villages. At the end of the hike, there is the possibility to relax at the thermal baths.

  DAY 5 – PANORAMIC TRAILS OF MONTE BIGNONE

  A day dedicated to some of the most spectacular views of the Riviera dei Fiori. Starting from the Sanctuary of San Romolo, the trail climbs towards Monte Bignone, a natural balcony suspended between the Maritime Alps and the Mediterranean Sea. On clear days, the view extends as far as Corsica. Lunch at a mountain refuge or local agriturismo. Overnight: Bordighera.

  DAY 6 – THE FRENCH RIVIERA: MENTON AND CAP MARTIN

  A cross-border hiking experience between Italy and France. The trek begins in Menton and follows the famous coastal path towards Cap Martin, passing Belle Époque villas, Mediterranean gardens, and dramatic seaside cliffs. Free time to explore the charming historic center of Menton. Overnight: Bordighera.

  DAY 7 – FINAL TREK AMONG OLIVE GROVES AND SEA VIEWS

  The final day features a relaxed walk through the hills of Vallebona and Camporosso. This gentle route passes historic olive mills, vineyards, and centuries-old olive groves overlooking the sea, providing the perfect ending to the journey. Farewell dinner featuring traditional Ligurian products and local specialties. Overnight: Bordighera.

  DAY 8 – DEPARTURE
