Ligurian Alps - Monte Saccarello

Reach the summit of Monte Saccarello, which at 2,201 metres is the highest peak in all of Liguria, and discover the Alpine side of Western Liguria. The transfer will take you to Verdeggia, a small mountain village in the Upper Argentina Valley, where the hike begins.

The ascent alternates between old mule tracks, sections of unpaved road and woodland trails, before reaching the high-altitude meadows. Once at the summit of Monte Saccarello, the route continues along the ridge, passing first by the statue of the Redeemer, then in front of Rifugio La Terza and Rifugio Sanremo, before reaching Passo Garlenda. From there, the descent begins towards Passo della Guardia, followed by the return to Verdeggia.

A challenging but spectacular route, ideal for trekking enthusiasts who want to discover Liguria’s wilder side and conquer one of its iconic mountains.
