Making wine in Liguria means hard work, patience, passion, challenging terrain, tradition and family. This experience takes you to discover a winery that perfectly embodies these values.
The destination is Soldano, a small village in the Val Verbone, where at the Poggi dell’Elmo winery you will meet Gianni and his family, producers of Rossese di Dolceacqua, the first DOC wine in Liguria, awarded in 1972.
Rossese is a unique grape variety in Italy, cultivated in a very small production area where each valley and type of soil gives the wine its own distinctive character.
The Rossese vineyards are located at higher elevations, so we will travel by minivan along a spectacular mountain road to the historic Poggio Pini vineyard. Here, you will discover where the wine comes from and how Rossese is cultivated, with much of the work still carried out by hand, respecting the rhythms of nature and the traditions of heroic viticulture.
After walking through the vineyards and along the beautiful dry-stone walls, we return to the village and visit the old winery, where you will enjoy a tasting of three different Rossese wines, each expressing the philosophy and character of Poggi dell’Elmo.
